Port Metro Vancouver awarded for EcoAction

The EcoAction programme focuses in reducing ship emissions. A variety of fuel quality, technology options and environmental management practices are eligible to receive discounted harbour due rates. It promotes attainable emissions reduction goals for ocean-going vessels that enter the port, and rewards those who excel in environmental stewardship.

“We are very proud to receive recognition of Port Metro Vancouver’s ongoing initiatives focused on sustainability and the environment,” said Duncan Wilson, vice president of corporate social responsibility.

“We always strive to balance the growing demand for trade with the need to protect our environment and maintain the quality of life of our neighbours,” he added.

Canada’s Clean50 Awards, managed by Delta Management and Canada’s Clean50 organisation, celebrate sustainability achievements and honour contributions to sustainable development and clean capitalism in the country.
