Green EFFORTS, the collaborative research project, co-funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme is organising its final conference on 13 May in Brussels.

Green EFFORTS stands for Green and Effective Operations at Terminals and in Ports, and aims at reducing emissions by decreasing energy consumption and improving the use of a cleaner energy mix in terminals and ports. The project started in January 2012 and will be concluded in June this year. It is coordinated by the Maritime Logistics Workgroup at Jacobs University Bremen and eight partners are involved collaboratively, including the Port of Trelleborg (Ro/Ro Terminal), Sächsische Binnenhafen Oberelbe (Inland Waterway Terminal), Siemens, IHS Global Insight, the Hamburg Port Training Institute, the Fraunhofer Centre for Maritime Logistics and Services, the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Jacobs University Bremen.

The conference, which will have the title “TERMINALS & PORTS – The Colour of the Future is Green”, will take place on 13 May 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Brussels.
