Navis Smart launched at Navis World 2019

Unveiled in late March at the Navis World 2019 conference in the US state of California, the technology layer is set to “enable and connect Navis solutions, applications and data from the ocean carrier and terminal side of the portfolio”, the US-headquartered company claimed.

“Capturing and standardising data for its customers will provide a foundation to apply machine learning to Navis applications, making the software smarter over time,” Navis said in a release.

Solution explored

The solution permits applications to be developed and deployed without requiring upgrades, meaning operational teams can quicker access the advantages of new functionality.

These perks include nimbler and faster deployment of applications to multiple sites, more real-time visibility from various operation segments and a chance to lay the foundations for the next machine learning innovation wave in the ocean supply chain.

According to Navis, its terminal and carrier software solutions portfolio has collected and aggregated lots of key ecosystem data for many years and among customers, there is a growing desire to access this untapped data to unlock extra value within their operations.

“The introduction of Navis Smart provides the shipping industry with the step change necessary to unleash the next wave of application intelligence — enabling insights from connected solutions and leveraging learning or cognitive computing, while simultaneously bringing down the total cost of ownership of assets,” said the release.
