Peel to enhance bulk operations via digital partnership

According to the port operator this initiative will “redefine” how its bulk cargo terminals operate across its portfolio of the Port of Liverpool, Port of Birkenhead, Runcorn Docks, and King George V Dock in Glasgow by increasing both resilience and efficiencies for customers.

Peel Ports will be using TBA’s terminal operating system CommTrac, to connect weighbridges, ANPR gates, driver self-service kiosks, and handheld devices into one fully integrated single platform.

This means that from vessel discharge through to customer dispatch, every movement of cargo will be digitised, consistently managed and captured through a single platform. For example, drivers will check in via ANPR, confirm dispatches via self-service kiosks, and record load movements using mobile devices, a process that will eliminate the manual data entry process and reduce the potential for error.

The investment from Peel Ports Group is also targeting a new level of workforce flexibility. With standardised processes, systems and interfaces in place, teams can move seamlessly between sites, supporting resilience, consistency and service continuity.

The port operator states that this investment programme will improve overall accuracy and efficiency across its bulk operations, while also halving stock losses and reducing revenue leakage by up to 3%.
