PortXL Shakedown to showcase next-gen tech

PortXL’s mission is to drive innovation in the port-connected industries through the acceleration of startups and scale-ups, and at its event kick-off, attendees will hear from Van Oord, Port of Rotterdam, Boskalis and the city of Rotterdam.

Port Strategy highlights just five of the companies exhibiting below.

Forward Water’s goal is to make industrial wastewater drinkable again. It has developed a technology that permits the commercial scale up of forward osmosis, with the aim of reclaiming water, purifying it, and making it drinkable and reusable, while reducing waste water treatment and disposal.

Flower Turbines produces sustainable wind energy. Its concept involves designing small but highly efficient wind turbines, with the aim of making them much more useful in commercial settings around the world. They are low in noise and vibration, safe for birds and cost effective.

Eco Wave Power’s wave energy convertor technology harvests wave energy from high and low waves and turns this into cost efficient, reliable and clean electricity. The EWP convertors draw energy from wave power throughout uniquely shaped ‘floaters’, attached by robust arms to any type of man-made structure.

sHYp is a startup that has developed a pattern of technology that can produce hydrogen from seawater and renewable energy including wind, solar and wave. It aims to assist the maritime industry and help balance the energy grid.

BigYellowFish Technologies has been launched to help combat maritime accidents. Its yellowbox tool includes analytics and management decision assist features and uses gamification, data science and behavioural technology to strengthen decision making and boost critical, solution-focused information sharing.

PortXL Shakedown will take place on 20 June at RDM Onderzeebootloods in Rotterdam.
