Developed by Finnish firm Mevea, the simulators replicate real-world port operations without interrupting day-to-day activities.

Luisenrique Navas, general manager of TPG, emphasised the significance of the new technology. “It will not only improve our team’s expertise, but is also a powerful tool to continue to improve the quality of our service and move our business into the future,” he said.

He described the simulators as a ‘qualitative leap’ for training, accelerating the learning curve for new operators, refreshing skills for experienced staff and boosting productivity.

The MEVEA PRO 5 model features a realistic cockpit with interchangeable controls, touch screens and a motion platform, enabling operators to train in varied weather and terrain conditions whilst the MEVEA PRO 8 focuses on integrated terminal operations, offering scenarios for complex manoeuvres and emergency response.

By training in realistic, high-pressure scenarios, TPG says personnel can make better decisions and respond more effectively to risks, enhancing both safety and performance.
