…and upgrades Rio Brasil terminal

The expansion works involve a new methodology that uses moveable metal panels that are fabricated on site and a state-of-the-art geo-positioning system (GNSS) for landing the foundation piles. On average, each section of a planned new quay involves use of 380m³ of concrete. A total of 12 phases of development space are due to be created during Q1 2024 and once completed there will be an additional 6000m² of new dock space.

With the associated expansion of the pier, it will be possible to simultaneously accommodate two 14,000 TEU ships, the so-called “LATAMAX.”

ICTSI has been operating its concession in this location since 1998 and the facility serves the largest economic region of Brazil, while also being geographically close to major industrial oil and gas hubs and import/export logistics infrastructure.

ICTSI Rio Brasil has recently invested R$542 million at the facility in both infrastructure and new equipment. This has already increased operational capacity by about 70 per cent and helped to guarantee of the concession until 2048.
