Kuenz aerodynamic crane design
Austria-founded Kuenz has produced an aerodynamic crane design designed to save energy, in a bid to meet the future challenges of container terminals.
The new girder design, for single and double girders, has an oval section and compared to previous models, a reduced wind surface to minimise transportation power requirements.
The girder design also means the new crane will benefit from a reduction in the dynamic force on wheels, crane way and structure, while the reduced gantry weight means less wheel loads and wheels are used.
Kuenz produces container, tankhouse, heavy lift and custom cranes.
