ABP launches GB£3.5bn property arm
ABP has launched its transformed property arm as a GB£3.5bn development and investment business with a 960-hectare land bank.
The company is in the midst of a five-year GB£1bn investment programme designed to improve its facilities and commercial director Jens Nielsen has assembled a specialist team headed by ABP group head of property Huw Turner to deliver objectives.
Mr Turner said: “Our 21 ports serving key shipping, land and rail routes provide great opportunities to develop and utilise available land which offers accommodation solutions for the manufacture and distribution of goods locally, nationally and globally.”
ABP’s property division operates an existing investment portfolio amounting to approximately GB£2bn and the new team comprises property professionals with a diverse range of experience from property developer to commercial agency to end user.
To meet the needs of individual occupiers, the division can provide a variety of services from development funding to buildings on traditional leases.
With sites in locations such as Southampton, the Humber and South Wales, ABP Property believes it can contribute to the regeneration of areas of under-investment and facilitate a major jobs-creation programme.
The £310m Siemens wind turbine blade manufacturing plant at Green Port Hull, where ABP provided over half the development finance, is a good example of this, said ABP. The project has created around 1,000 jobs.
