Kongsberg completes Aberdeen project
The North Sea oil port of Aberdeen can now utilise a new observation system recently completed by Kongsberg Maritime. The system utilises Internet Protocol (IP) technology to supply high-resolution camera pictures and AIS information.
Remote control and monitoring over the Internet from any location in the world is available with high quality MPEG 4 images and AIS information being received over a typical 256Kbps ADSL link.
The video over IP system uses a unique Pan & Tilt camera with integral Infra Red (IR) lamp, along with the latest EXView HAD CCD colour camera. The camera also utilises an automatic IR Cut Filter Removable mode that increases light sensitivity in low light. A wash/wipe system ensures that the camera can provide excellent pictures in harsh weather conditions.
A Kongsberg Seatex AI71 AIS unit has been integrated with the camera system which allows the remote observer to view live AIS information in conjunction with the live video feed, assisting the operator to identify potential threats and dangers.
