Cavotec homes in on Middle East
Swiss technology expert, Cavotec, will be hitting the World Ports & Trade Summit in Abu Dhabi this week to demonstrate how its MoorMaster equipment helps support safe and efficient mooring operations and further business in the Middle East.
MoorMaster is a vacuum-based automated mooring technology that eliminates the need for conventional mooring lines. Remote controlled vacuum pads recessed in, or mounted on, the quayside or pontoons, moor and release vessels in seconds.
The technology is used for container and bulk handling, passenger ferry and ro-ro applications all over the world. The group is also seeing interest in the technology for offshore applications.
MoorMaster is already in service at two container handling berths at the Port of Salalah in Oman and Cavotec says that it is seeing growing interest from other ports in the region.
Aside from MoorMaster, Cavotec recently won a major contract contract for motorised cable reel technologies to power 19 ship to shore (STS) and 50 rail mounted gantry cranes (RMG) at the DP World Jebel Ali port terminal, so is already doing other business in the region.
Cavotec also supplies electrical power control systems to the port and shipping sectors, including shore to ship alternative marine power systems.
