SSA investment boosts traffic in Mexico
SSA Mexico has confirmed that it has ongoing investment of $562m in its container, cruise, general cargo and automotive terminals in Mexico.
According to managing director Manuel Fernández, the investment is being used to create new infrastructure and expand operating areas.
In 2016, in Veracruz, the company handled 500,000 finished vehicles, as well as general cargo and steel rolls, being a major component in the port’s expansion of business. Currently, it is extending its automotive terminal to boost efficiency and productivity.
At Tuxpan Port Terminal, which commenced operations six months ago, vehicles, export citrus fruit and reefer boxes constitute the main traffic, which feeds the central zone and also the Bajío region.
In Lázaro Cárdenas, SSA México is building a new finished vehicles terminal, which should start operations towards the end of the year or early 2018.
The company is also expanding cargo operations in Manzanillo and its cruise business in Cozumel.
