Grant funding for wildlife care

Pilbara Wildlife Carers Association will receive AUS$5,000 for resources and equipment as part of Pilbara Ports Authority’s yearly Staff Community Grant. The grant process involves staff being given the opportunity to nominate a charity or not-for-profit organisation that directly supports the Dampier/Karratha, Port Hedland and Ashburton/Onslow communities.

“The grant will enable us to continue treating and caring for wildlife in the Pilbara by providing medical supplies and equipment, and raising our profile across the region,” said Rose Best, chairperson of Pilbara Wildlife Carers Association.

“Volunteer and community services are still operating during the COVID-19 pandemic and some are busier than ever during this difficult time. These grants will help them to continue supporting communities and wildlife,” commented Roger Johnston, CEO of Pilbara Ports Authority.

Other grant recipients include Karratha Community Men’s Shed; Port Hedland Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service; Hedland Women’s Refuge; and Ngala Pilbara Families Building Pilbara Communities (Ngala PFBPC). These organisations will also receive AU$5,000 funding.
