LNG terminal planned for Mozambique port
An LNG import terminal is being planned for operation at a port in Mozambique.
Beluluane Gas Company (BGC), an affiliate of Matola Gas Company (MGC), has secured a concession from the Government of Mozambique for the import of LNG to Port Maputo.
The concession includes the operations of a permanently anchored Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), marine infrastructure, and new high-pressure pipeline.
The new pipeline will connect FSRU to a new gas power plant, the Beluluane Thermal Power Plant (CTB), to be built in the Beluluane Industrial Park area of Matola. This pipeline will also connect to matola gas company (MGC) pipeline network in Matola, which is connected to the Rompco gas pipeline, supplying gas to South Africa.
Total confirmed it is involved in the development project but declined to provide a specific comment to GreenPort.
