Fuel monitoring cuts emissions in China

Aquametro Oil & Marine said Aquametro Oil & Marine China (AOMC) will supply the fuel monitoring system RMS of AOM on the vessels, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for July 2021. The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan awarded AOMC with a contract to install its fuel monitoring system RMS and Flowmeters for eight newbuilds in May and November 2020. AOMC finished the boarding commissioning of four tugs for the port in December.

“The RMS/FM allows Zhoushan port to monitor and optimize the fuel oil consumption and efficiency of their tugs while contributing to energy saving and emission reduction, “ said Aquametro Oil & Marine.

To comply with EU MRV and MARPOL conventions, China plans to be carbon neutral by 2060. This means reducing carbon emissions from 16bn tonnes a year to zero by 2060. To achieve this, challenging target energy conservation and emission reductions are important for government vessels in China.

The government has issued strict environmental conventions that require all state-owned vessels, such as tugs, to save energy and reduce emissions.
