Driving up haulage efficiency

UK based SJG Haulage Ltd adopted cloud based software at the start of the pandemic to better its efficiency and accelerate growth.

The Intermodal Manager software solution from Bankside Systems that offers industry standard EDI messaging to increase container handling.

For SJG Haulage Ltd, a family-run company operating from Marchwood near to the Port of Southampton, it has meant an 233% increase in the containers it has handled over the last year.

As the haulage industry pulls itself back from significant challenges presented by Brexit and Covid-19 and HGV driver shortages, SJG said it is welcoming the positive impact and rapid growth the communication upgrade has facilitated.

Particularly around its solutions to the ongoing container storage issues currently being seen across the UK.

By upgrading significantly from a paper-based process that is commonly used in the UK domestic haulage industry, the cloud-based communications system has enabled SJG to almost double its throughput from 2,100 containers per month in November 2020 to more than 7,000 one year later.
