Port 2000 development now partially operational

Initially, stevedoring services will be provided by Generale de Manutencion Portuaire (GMP), which is a joint-venture between CMA CGM and P&O Ports, at its Terminal de France, where it holds a 36-year concession.

Also to use the new area will be APM Terminals, which is finalising its concession with the port authority. MSC is also in negotiations in respect of a potential concession area of its own.

In the meantime, dredging work has nearly been completed in the access channel and basin. Dredging International has had to remove up to three metres of sediment and rock in some places to achieve the required in depth.
