JadeWeserPort goes to Eurogate

Eurogate, Europes largest container terminal group, has secured the tender for the operation of Germanys future deepsea port JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven, after winning over an international group of shipping companies and port operators. The group made it to the final bidding round and came out on top after impressing the assembled bodies. The ambitious project on the German North Sea coast is expected to commence operations at the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010. It will create a capacity of around 2.7m TEUs, will have a 40-year licence, and is predicted to rack up almost ?1bn in investment costs.
