Esmeraldas contract to be rescinded

The decision was based on a recent fact-finding visit to the port by Ecuador’s president, Rafael Correa, where he was presented with a series of figures, which showed that the concessionaire had not completed the agreed infrastructure nor made agreed investment.

Before terminating the concession, negotiations had been opened with the concessionaire to find another possible solution.
