Porto Alegre completes harbour move

After 81 years of activity at Maua Harbour, Porto Alegre has moved operational activities to Navegantes Harbour, some six kilometres further north, but closer to the city centre. This area, which has 4.6km of quay, has increased the ports capacity from 2,000 to 4,500 tonnes per day. The aim is now to increase the depth of the access channel to enable 18,000dwt vessels to access the port.
