Libra to consolidate three terminals operation

Libra Terminais has presented proposals to the authorities to unify its two operational areas into a mega-terminal handling containers.

The so-called Libra-Santos project would enable the stevedore to double capacity to 2.1m teu. Work would take 18 months to complete.

Libra recently acquired the concession for Terminal 33, located alongside its existing operations in terminals 35 and 37.

In total, it has operating area of 105,000 square metres, although three terminals are physically segregated, involving no fewer than six entry gates.

The plan is to unite the terminals through the construction of a section of linear key between terminal 35 and 37, which would boost the operational area to 140,000 square metres, served by 1,700 metres of key.
