El Ferrol to host major coal terminal
Spanish power generating company Endesa Generacion has ratified an agreement with the port authority of El Ferrol in northwest Spain to build a major coal importing terminal on a 106,000 sq m site in the outer harbour development zone. It has also guaranteed a minimum annual cargo of 3.5m tonnes although it anticipates handling at least 5m tonnes annually by 2006. In 2003 alone the company imported 3m tonnes of coal through the port.
