Salalah port wins CSR award

The Port of Salalah, located on the Gulf of Oman in the Arabian Sea, is managed and jointly owned by APM Terminals. The port won the award for its focus on the environment and the surrounding community which demonstrated important engagement with its employees and local society to reduce carbon emissions and waste and minimise the damaging impacts of its operations.

This has been done by volunteer activities, surveys and a range of projects including summer school and internship programmes.

Peter Ford, CEO, Port of Salalah, said: “We are extremely honoured to win this award, which I would like to dedicate to each one of our 2,221 employees. This is a tribute to the significance and impact you make by connecting and caring about people and environment.”

He added: “The stronger we are able to come together under the agendas of diversity and development, volunteerism, education, health support, and environmental impact mitigation, the stronger and better our company will be at facing its challenges in the future.”

Other finalists for the award included DP World, PD Ports and Port of Tyne.
