Nigerian port project

The Nigerian president has inaugurated Phase 4 of the country’s $204m Onne Port Complex.

Construction work has now been completed which includes 15m depth berths, 800 hectares of reclaimed quay area and road networks connecting to other parts of the Free Trade Zone.

Phase 4B of the project is already underway with a $2.8bn contract having already been awarded to Deep Offshore Ltd to develop eight new berths and to reclaim 600 hectares of swampland and build 15.5km of port roads and port facilities over the next six years.

The Nigerian government said that the development is a game changer which is expected to support unprecedented oil and gas operations which will help make the zone Africa’s first full scale oil and gas industrial city.
