Agunsa awarded Manta concession

Over the course of the concession starting December 19 Agunsa will invest $177.3m.

The Chilean company was the only bidder for the concession, which encompasses design, finance/implementation of additional works, supply of equipment, and operation and maintenance of the terminal at the port.

According to the port authority, an annual fee of $310,000 will be paid by the concessionaire, along with a charge of $0.28 for each metric tonne handled and $5.00 per teu, which is expected to translate to approximately $600,000 in the first year of operation.

Among new plans announced as part of the concession is a dedicated cruise terminal.

While Agunsa will take exclusive charge of the international quays, the port authority will retain responsibility for the fishing and cabotage quay.
