chainLOG: “Yellow Pages” for ports
Innovative logistics platform chainLOG, funded by Hamburg Port Authority and administrated by Port of Hamburg Marketing, is vying to become a LinkedIn for ports.
chainLOG builds on the successful local system from Hamburg to provide ports with a platform to promote and interconnect their products and services with customers from the international maritime environment.
It was initially launched in March 2017 with Hamburg its only member, but now includes the Port of Busan and Jakarta. The more ports that join, the more value the tool will have, said Hamburg, and the more likely it is that the creators behind chainLOG will reach their goal of increasing connectivity among businesses from different ports and thus optimising the global supply chain by giving visibility across all stages of the transport process.
The information shared on chainLOG comes from and is regularly updated by the port authorities, and it is visible and free to users.
There is a membership fee per port, which is dependent on cargo volumes. Ports handling under 5m teu are charged a flat fee of €3,000 per year for a basic package that includes the ports profile and liner services. That rises to €5,000 for a port handling between 5m and 10m teu, and to €7,000 for a port with a container turnover of more than 10m teu. To bolt on a company package with up to 50 company profiles, there is an additional cost of €1,500 per annum.
