China facility to boost Linde output
Linde is adding to its existing reachstacker capacity with a facility in China. The factory in Xiamen has been building empty container handlers from Linde kits since 1996, but the company has confirmed to Port Strategy that reachstackers are being added to the production line to meet growing demand.
“We are already running close to full capacity here in the UK. Utilising capacity in our facility in China will free up some of that space to enable us to meet the growing demand for Europe, the US and other Western markets, and also for the new products that we are developing,” said Linde international product manager Mark Timothy.
The reachstackers will be produced initially for homeland consumption, with the intention of extending that supply area to neighbouring countries over time. To meet Linde quality controls, a team headed by operations and service general manager Jimmy Lozada will oversee production in Xiamen. Initial ramp-up production is set at 20 units for 2007.
