CMA CGM is considering whether to go ahead with its $470m transhipment port in Batu Ampar in Batam, Indonesia.

It has already had several contract extensions, but is expected to make a decision soon. The facility is expected to be developed as a transhipment hub.

Work originally began in 2005 but was halted to allow the concession period to be increased from 25 years to 50 years. It will have 700 m of quay and the capacity of 1.2m teu.
