Alicante Port launches hydrogen initiative

The Port of Alicante, Spain has taken a significant step toward its sustainability goals with the launch of a preliminary market consultation for the future concession of a green hydrogen production plant

The initiative, named PORTALI-H2, forms part of the port’s broader strategy to become a leading energy hub in the Mediterranean and aligns with the European Union’s decarbonisation objectives, including the European Green Deal and the ‘Fit for 55’ plan.

The hydrogen plant is expected to have a minimum capacity of 1 MW.
