Five Peruvian terminals to be privatised

ThePeruvian Transport Ministry has announced that the regional ports ofPisco, Paita and Ilo, as well as the river ports at Pucallpa andIquitos, will be put out of concession in 2008. Investment of around$100m will be required across all five.

According to Pamela Cox, World Bank western hemisphere vice president: “The port of Callao is one of the most inefficient in Latin America”.
