Another exceptional venue for the GreenPort Congress dinner - Pompstation, Zeeburgerdijk 52, 1094 AE Amsterdam saw a packed dining room with delegates from all corners of the globe rubbing shoulders and establishing new friendships and professional contacts.

The GreenPort Congress is the ideal congress to network, share best practice and discover new ways of working.

After another very uplifting welcome from Michiel de Brauw, Financial Director of Port of Amsterdam, delegates had the opportunity to hear about one of the next GreenPort venues in May 2018 from Earl Lewis, Deputy Secretary Policy and Planning, Maryland Department of Transport.

The evening concluded with the EcoPorts Awards, this year celebrating 20 years of activity and service of EcoPorts. GreenPort Congress provided a welcome opportunity to recognise the achievements of EcoPorts Network. The overarching principle of EcoPorts is to raise awareness on environmental protection through cooperation and sharing of knowledge between ports and improve environmental management. This years awards paid tribute to three individuals who have played a defining role in the development and implementation of standards to achieve PERS (Port Environmental Review System) Certification, they are:

Henk W.J.J. De Bruijn, Manager Social & Labour Affairs, Havenbendrijf Rotterdam N.V.

Kees Joosten, Senior Consultant, Bax & Company, Rotterdam.

Herman Journée, Chairman ECO Sustainable Logistic Chain Foundation.
