The Port of Long Beach is expecting to commence construction of its 400 acre ‘Pier Wind’ offshore facility in 2027. The US$4.7bn project has what the port describes as an “aggressive” timeline, especially as it will require all necessary permits to be in place by mid-2026. This project is a key component of port infrastructure needed to support the State of California’s planning goal of seeing 25 gigawatts of power generated in place by 2045.
