In related news, Japanese shipping line NYK has reputedly approached Shanghai International Port with a view to investing in Phase 3B of the Da Xiao Yang Shan container terminal, located 34 kilometres southwest of Shanghai.

SaigonPort is awaiting authorisation to enter into joint ventures with PSAInternational and APM Terminals. The former will involve a four-berthcontainer terminal with a capacity of 1.5m teu, while the latterinvolves two berths capable of handling 950,000 teu, costing $187m. Theproject with APM Terminals should be ready in 2010, while PSA will becompleted in 2017.
