SSS terminal tender at Barcelona

Barcelona port authority is scheduled to issue a tender in respect of a new short sea terminal in the third quarter of this year, some 12 months later than originally planned. Expected to bid are two Italian operators: Grandi Navi Veloci and Grimaldi Ná poles.

In addition to having been allocated expansion area despite the lack of a tender, a recently formed anti-container pressure group has been set up, while squabbles involving the port authority have broken out. It has now emerged that a leisure area is also to be developed alongside the terminal, effectively reducing the amount of space available to the operator.
