Vietnam seeks maritime investment

Vietnam is seeking investment fromboth domestic and foreign sources to expand and develop the countrys portssector, expected to handle 200m tonnes of cargo in 2010 and 400m tonnes in 2020.

Currently, Vietnamese ports handle around 170m tonnes, which is a significant rise on the 154m tonnes reported in 2006.

Rules governing foreign investment are extremely flexible, allowing either joint ventures or solo developments.

Management can also be drawn from Vietnamese internationals or imposed from abroad.
