Spreaders to keep costs down in Santos

A recently developed spreader with load-sensing technology has found a place in the newly developing Latin American market.

Thirteen of Bromma’s YTR40E spreaders with load sensors are going to Santos

This innovation by Bromma is a boost to port safety, as it is designed to identify potentially dangerous lift situations – and can help a terminal identify both a container’s weight and twistlock lifecycles.

The spreaders can find containers with understated weight information plus those that are eccentrically- or over-loaded, and containers that are being lifted with one or more twistlocks locked to the container stack or chassis.

Bromma’s vice-president Vikram Raman noted that the spreaders headed to Santos “protects worker safety, lowers terminal insurance costs, and prevents property claims and associated damages”. It also extends equipment life by preventing accelerated stress on container handling equipment.
