West Sacramento seeks business partners

The Port of West Sacramento has released a Request for Interest (RFI) to seek out potential business partners to lease or operate the port’s cargo facilities and to lease, purchase or develop port-owned real estate.

The port is looking for partners to lease or operate its cargo facilities

The inland port, which opened in 1963, has been operated by the City of West Sacramento since 2006. The RFI was released by the port as part of its new business plan, which aims to reduce cargo facility operating costs and cargo market risks through a new landlord operating model. The plan also aims to increase the value of underused facilities and properties at the port.

Mike McGowan, Port Commission Chair, said: “We’re looking for ways to ensure that the port is financially self-sufficient while remaining a long term economic and community asset to the City of West Sacramento and greater Sacramento region.”

The deadline for statements of interest is Friday 15 February 2013.

The port is located 79 nautical miles from San Francisco and has direct access to Suisun Bay via the 40 mile deep water ship channel, which is maintained at a depth of 30ft.
