Why GreenPort Congress America is visiting Baltimore

The fourth fastest-growing North American port and recognized as one of the most efficient container port in the U.S. for three consecutive years, Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore and the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), are the ideal hosts for the first North American GreenPort Congress.

The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore public and private marine terminals handled more cars and light trucks than any other U.S. port for the seventh consecutive year. Baltimore is ranked as the top port among all U.S. ports for handling autos and light trucks, farm and construction machinery, imported sugar and imported gypsum. Overall Baltimore is ranked ninth for the total dollar value of cargo and 12th for cargo tonnage for all U.S. ports.

The port has been recognised for its environmental efforts for several years and recently named a Green Supply Chain partner by Inbound Logistics magazine for it’s dray trucks replacement programme. MDOT MPA has also shown further commitment to the environment in projects both on and around the port. Baltimore is therefore the ideal first North American location for GreenPort Congress.
