The incident happened on 6 March, when the, man was working to load a boat with girders at the inland port near Hull.
PD Ports released a statement on 7 March, which said: “We can confirm that an industrial accident occurred at our Groveport operations yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 6 March 2019. Tragically a much liked and valued colleague was fatally injured in the accident.
“A comprehensive investigation commenced immediately following the accident and is continuing. We continue to offer active support to the investigating authorities. Our thoughts are with our colleague, his family, friends and other colleagues.”
Port Strategy has not yet had confirmation from PD Ports on whether operations have now resumed.
The 190-acre Groveport has nine berths with sea access via the Humber Estuary. It provides bulk cargo, warehousing, chartering, ships agency and contract logistics services.
