Vietnam aspires to reach international standards

The Vietnam Sea Ports Association is to focus on 10 major measures to bring national ports up to accepted international standards.

Port Strategy: the VPA is targeting international co-operation for the nation's ports

Part of its plan is to develop international co-operation in areas such as consultancy, development assistance and trade promotion.

It also plans to improve technology systems to boost handling capacity and drive down operational costs.

The country now has 160 ports, where current growth is running at 20%.
