There are inherent difficulties with the bid which requires certain conditions that the Indonesian government might find difficult to approve.
P&O Ports is to invest US$300m in building a new port in Vietnam’s Hiep Phuoc industrial zone capable of handling 1.5m TEUs a year. Construction is scheduled to commence early next year with a joint management team to be put together by P&O Ports (80%) and Vietnam’s Tan Thuan Industry Development Company (20%).
