These orders included contracts for delivery of spreaders to terminals in the nations of Malaysia, Indonesia, Slovenia, Korea, Spain, Thailand and Sweden, among others.
Further, the second generation of YSX40E/45E GreenLine yard spreaders have, say the company, benefited from several technical enhancements.
Fewer adjustments are needed, there’s an easier and simpler maintenance, and greater overall reliability. All of which leads to more efficient and productive container handling operations.
Optional electric flippers are now available for these yard spreaders. The flipper will always try to keep its down position by using analog sensors to determine if the flipper is forced out of its position, which in turn commands the motor to bring it to a fully down position. Motor durability is enhanced by a feature which immediately shuts off the current in the event of current peaks. The phase reverser also protects the motor by keeping track of the motor’s on-time.
Advantages include a lower spreader weight, resulting in lower crane power consumption and lifetime diesel cost savings of €30,000. Further, it has as much as 90% lower spreader power consumption when compared with hydraulic yard spreaders, due to the elimination of the idling powerpack. It also gains in cumulative lifecycle cost benefits – over the lifetime of a typical Bromma GreenLine spreader, fully half of the original cost should be returned in green cost savings.
Put together, this cumulative 200 tonnes of CO2 savings is equivalent to driving 1.7 million kilometres in a V70 Volvo sedan – or 42 turns around the globe.
“Customers are increasingly inclined to purchase environmentally advanced products,” notes Bromma vice-president and commercial director Vikram Raman, “but they are also very conscious of lifecycle costs and high MMBF reliability.”
