The V-TRAX automatically steers the container handling equipment down a virtual track along the runway using high-precision Differential GPS to locate the equipment and provide both the current position and heading. A twin antenna method allows the system to determine the heading before the equipment starts to move.
The manufacturer claims that the system offers “minimum invasion into the existing equipment controls” with “simple to use interfaces”.
It also includes in-built safety devices to avoid collisions and the driver has full override control allowing manual steer at any time.
As a standalone product, V-TRAX can be retrofitted to existing equipment of installed on new and is not tied to any particular crane or control package manufacturer.
