Wind turbine business sees potential in Hull

A new UK centre for wind turbine equipment has opened in recognition of Green Port Hull’s manufacturing potential.

Eltronic Wind Solutions's service centre in Hull

Eltronic Wind Solutions launched its service & assembly centre at the beginning of November and has so far hired seven engineers from the local area with plans to employ more to help boost the renewables economy.

The company stated: “We recognize the potential of Greenport Hull to become a manufacturing hub for the offshore wind industry and we would like to get on board and contribute to the growth of the Hull region as well as the regional initiatives to make the area more attractive.”

Testing capacity

The new service centre significantly increases Eltronic’s capacity for conducting tests (i.e. FAT) and providing inspection and calibrations of a wide variety of equipment.

Eltronic offers customers the opportunity to store the equipment at its facilities. Just before the equipment is due to be taken into operation again, it makes sure that it is inspected and ready for use.

The centre additionally offers closer proximity to the company’s customers, enabling quicker service response.

Green Port Hull offers an ABP-managed deepwater port with 12 hours’ sailing time to Round 3 wind farms.
