While the north-west ports of Barrow, Silloth, Garston and Fleetwood saw developments in aggregates and agribulks trades, the south-west port of Teignmouth benefited from considerable investment in quays and infrastructure.
In Scotland, both Ayr and Troon reported “a good 2006”, while the East Anglian ports of Ipswich, Lowestoft,and King’s Lynn handled over 4.4m tonnes of cargo, including 1.5m tonnes of agribulks – a 6% increase on the previous year’s bulk figures.
