GPA is to add three additional interchange lanes at Garden City Terminal container Gates 3 and 4, increase operating personnel, assemble additional rubber-tyred gantry cranes and is making use of 30 additional acres of container storage that were recently put into operation at the Garden City Terminal. Additionally, RAM is currently manufacturing four separating twinlift spreaders for the same terminal.
SSA PLOUGHS MONEY INTO MEXICO
Stevedoring Services of America (SSA) is to invest $57m in equipment and terminal development at the Mexican ports of Manzanillo, Veracruz and Acapulco. After registering box growth of 20% last year, the company expects to be handling in excess of 3m containers within three years.
