The winner of the tender has until late December to complete the study.The 39,200 square metre Vopak facility mainly handles chemical products, petrochemicals and vegetable oil.
The Mexican port of Manzanillo which handled half a million containers in 2005, has now become a distribution hub for Wal-Mart. The US giant uses the port to bring in Asian goods which are then sent by road and rail to destinations in the US and Canada.
