VSTEP encourages clean shipping

Dutch company VSTEP Simulation, which provides DNV-certified simulators, is now an incentive provider for the Green Award Foundation – a move that it hopes will help promote clean and safe shipping.

VSTEP simulators are a new generation of simulators for the maritime industry and fulfil training requirements in full compliance with the latest international standards and regulations

Beginning this month, all Green Award-certified offices are granted a full year of free premium support when purchasing a VSTEP maritime simulator. This offer applies to all maritime simulator types, ranging from desktop solutions and ECDIS systems to DNV Class A full mission bridge simulators.

A spokesperson for VSTEP told GreenPort the company’s taking part in the programme “because of our belief that we can do our bit (although only small) towards a cleaner shipping industry. Our participation stems from idealism, but we are a young company and strongly believe in doing our part where possible”.

Jan Fransen, executive director, Green Award Foundation, added: “Green Award is happy to welcome yet another type of Incentive Provider to our network. With our special emphasis on the human element, it is a logical step for a company that provides advanced simulators to the maritime industry to join the network.”

Green Award certifies ships and shipping companies that take extra care to deliver clean and safe shipping. Ships and companies with a Green Award certificate reap various financial and non-financial benefits. The Green Award Foundation says this make above standard ship operation economically more attractive.
