As host venue for GreenPort Congress’ 21st coming of age edition, Portsmouth International Port is hard to beat, with the south coast harbour recently delivering the UK’s first high-voltage multi-berth, multi-user shore power system.
And with a week to go to the annual gathering the groundbreaking port has just detailed its five-year journey in a white paper – Plugging in – Portsmouth’s shore power journey and the future of clean ports – its 20-pages almost a manifesto for many of the issues at the heart of GreenPort Congress.
Mike Sellers, Portsmouth International Port’s director said: “Our white paper, jointly authored by the British Ports Association (BPA), covers not only Portsmouth’s own shore power journey and what other ports can learn from us, but also calls to action on what is needed for scaling and rolling out the technology nationwide.”
Representatives from several of the impressive team who partnered with Portsmouth to deliver their Sea Change project – which included Innovate UK, the University of Portsmouth, Swanbarton, Barter4Things, MSE International, Balfour Beatty, ABB and AtkinsRealis – contributed to the paper and will also be speaking at next week’s event.
Insights will be shared, along with the lessons learned, making the 2026 GreenPort Congress, 7-9 October, an event not to be missed.
