Autonomous vehicles support UAE port progress
A port in United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be equipped with a fleet of Autonomous Internal Terminal Vehicles (AITVs) as part of a technology agreement between three parties.
DP World, the UAE region and the autonomous vehicle, robotics and AI specialist DGWorld have entered a contractual agreement to equip DP-World operated Jebel Ali Port with a fleet of AITVs, including all related integrations in the existing operation processes and infrastructures.
DGWorld will deliver and integrate their autonomous technology with the existing ITV fleet in multiple phases, with the goal to further increase the overall efficiency of the terminal and reduce the overall size of the currently used fleet, at the same time. The move by DP World to introduce these autonomous vehicles and related technologies into its daily operations supports its digitalisation strategy.

In addition to supporting DP World’s digitalisation strategy, the autonomous vehicles and related technologies could aid operational efficiency and utilisation of new AI-based software solutions.
